Natural Bug Spray
Are you in need of a natural bug spray? I was.
I hate it when bugs get into the house. My house that was built in the 70's and after a few remodel projects it's clear that they cut corners when building this place. Even with the remodeling and tightening things up, somehow bugs are still invading our house.
I hate spraying chemicals to deter pests and needed to find a natural method to rid my house of bugs. So I came up with a natural bug spray using essential oils. It also doubles as a room spray because it makes the room smell so good.

When I talk about invading bugs I'm talking about bugs like this guy... a stink bug. These stink bugs are the WORST. They get into everything, are loud, in-your-face and when threatened (or squished) the emit a smell. Whats worse is what causes that smell can actually give you a painful chemical burn on your skin! Yup, they are enemy #1 in our home.

This natural bug spray seems to work at keeping these little buggers at bay. I mix everything in a spray bottle and give my curtains, carpet, and floors near a door a mist every few days. I saw a noticeable decline in their numbers when I started using this.
This combo of oils works well on most bugs. Spiders and mosquitos hate the Peppermint and Lavender and Wasps and Flies hate the Lemongrass.
The Recipe
- Grab an 8 oz spray bottle (dark colored glass is preferred)
- Add 1 TB white vinegar to bottle
- Add 3 drops each of Rosemary, Lemongrass, & Lavender and Peppermint.
- Fill the rest of the bottle with water
- Shake and mist areas where bugs are likely to enter.
Bonus! If you add 3 drops of Cedarwood essential oil into the blend it will also repel Fleas.

This is such a good way to remove bugs! I love that it's environment friendly, not harmful to children and pets and leaves the room smelling good and clean. I hope this works with insects too. Thanks for sharing this oil recipe!
