- Your favorite 1-1 Gluten Free Flour blend (We like Bob's Red Mill and King Arthur Flour)
- Cocoa Powder
- Brown Sugar
- Eggs
- Vegetable Oil
- Buttermilk
- Salt
- Baking Soda and Baking Powder

I love to serve these with an amazing peanut butter frosting. Don't chocolate and peanut butter just go together? If you think so, gather the following ingredients.

- Milk
Not a fan of peanut butter? No problem, these chocolate cake donuts stand on their own! I may have been known to eat a few before I even bother making any frosting, they are that delicious and smell that good right out of the oven.
The only other thing you need are donut pans. Now, at first, I didn't want to buy them because I was like, well, how often will I really use a specialty pan like this?
Let me tell you, I use them all the time! They are also very economical, and store easily. These are a small investment you won't regret.
GF Chocolate Cake Donuts Step by Step
So let me show you how simple it is to make these gluten free chocolate donuts.
Start by mixing together your wet ingredients: the oil, eggs, buttermilk, and brown sugar. Then add the vanilla extract.

Next, add the dry ingredients. Stir in the gluten free flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.

Mix until smooth. It will look just like chocolate cake batter.

Then, add the batter to your greased donut pan, you want to fill the donut spots about ⅔ of the way full.

That's it! Then bake them for 10-12 minutes.
Peanut Butter Frosting
If you plan on making peanut butter frosting for these gf chocolate cake donuts, gather your ingredients. Melt your butter and peanut butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds.

This is super simple. Add the powdered sugar and start mixing, gradually adding the cream until you get your desired consistency.
Be sure your donuts are cool before frosting them!

Can I make these gluten-free donuts dairy-free?
Yes, absolutely! Just substitute your favorite non dairy milk for the buttermilk. Let me teach you a secret - you can turn any milk into buttermilk! Just add half a tablespoon of vinegar to your non dairy milk, and let it sit for five minutes before adding it to the recipe.
You can also just use your favorite non dairy milk in the frosting.
